Bath, Michigan  – BS&A Software, a leading provider of SaaS enterprise software for local governments, today announced the appointment of Christian Merkel as Vice President of Information Technology and Security. Merkel will lead the company’s information technology and security strategy, strengthening the systems, infrastructure, and practices that support BS&A’s continued growth and commitment to delivering secure, reliable technology.

Merkel brings more than two decades of experience leading global technology organizations through digital transformation, cybersecurity initiatives, cloud modernization, and complex business integrations. Throughout his career, he has focused on building high-performing teams, strengthening technology operations, and connecting IT investments to meaningful business outcomes.

Most recently, Merkel served as Senior Director of Global IT at GoTo Technologies, where he led enterprise technology initiatives supporting operations across more than 40 countries. His experience includes implementing Zero Trust security architecture, modernizing global infrastructure, supporting major business integrations, and introducing AI-enabled IT support capabilities. Previously, he held technology leadership positions at LogMeIn and Citrix Systems.

His leadership will help ensure the company’s technology infrastructure and internal operations continue evolving alongside its expanding customer base.
